FAA Launches Campaign to Encourage Air Traffic Controller
Minorities are underrepresented in the air traffic control (ATC) workforce,
Dr. Robert Worthington resides in Columbia, Maryland, with his family. His passion for basketball has been perpetual over the past thirty years as a player and coach at both the college and professional levels.
He is also the founder and president of Hoop Drills for Skills Basketball Camps, LLC. (HDFS), a youth basketball training and skill development organization that has conducted youth camps and clinics with several current and former NBA players and numerous current and former college basketball players and coaches.
The HDFS organization also hosted several military base youth camps. It partnered with the nonprofit organization Howard County Youth Program (HCYP) to manage a boys’ and girls’ middle school basketball league.
Dr. Worthington is a graduate of Walden University’s Consulting Capstone program, a highly competitive course of study designed to build a solid foundation and understanding of the consulting industry. As a requirement for completing the Consulting Capstone program, Dr. Worthington researched a specific business (healthcare) problem and submitted an approved doctoral study (dissertation) in addition to participating in two oral defenses of his research work in satisfying all Higher Learning Commission (HLC) and Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) accreditation to earn the Doctor in Business Administration (DBA) degree.
His other degrees include a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a focus in aviation from Lynn University and a Bachelor of Science (BS) in Professional Aeronautics from Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Dr. Worthington’s professional background includes more than twenty-five years of aviation experience, including stints of duty with the Federal Aviation Administration National Air Traffic Control Center, and 10-plus years of military service as a member of the United States Air Force and been afforded numerous opportunities to work at some of the most exciting job locations in the world, including the Pentagon in Washington, DC; Kennedy Space Center Cape Canaveral, FL (home to the US Space Program and the Space Shuttle); and the National Air Traffic Control Center located at the Mike Monroney Aeronautical Center Oklahoma City, OK.
